Ex situ is an experimental film and ‘B Side’ to the new photo book by Tim Nagle.

No people, no words.

The 45 minute audio-visual collage of nature vignettes, filmed + edited by Tim, are scored by original instrumental music from 25 musicians. Through improvised takes and unique collaborations the songs and videos were woven around each other to create a meditative, sometimes psychedelic, experience. The grainy tape footage explores patterns in nature across different landscapes and seasons, bringing sound and motion to expand on the world of the photo book.

Mixed by producer Andrew Humphrey, the eclectic music arrangements span from ambient bliss to high energy rock and roll, and include contributions from Ryley Walker, Resavoir, Squirrel Flower, Luke Titus, members of Twin Peaks, King Gizzard + the Lizard Wizard and Slow Pulp. 

The evening will also include a special screening of select music videos directed by Tim, followed by a Q&A moderated by Joe Swanberg.

Limited Edition VHS release of the film will be for sale at the screening.
