In a posh nightclub, stage performer and sex worker Cynthia (Lina Romay) is approached by an adventurous couple, Alpha and Andros. Cynthia agrees to go back to their hotel where later she effortlessly seduces Alpha but unexpectedly loses her ability to dominate in bed. It turns out that Alpha is a creature from another dimension that is eager to learn about the human body and the different ways in which it experiences pleasure and pain, while Andros is its docile slave. During the erotic fireworks, Alpha reprograms Cynthia’s mind and transforms her into a killing machine. Soon after, Cynthia, now fully controlled by Alpha, is released to eliminate several high-profile targets that have detected the presence of the alien visitor, such as the clairvoyant Madame Pécame (Monica Swinn) and Dr. Seward (Franco himself).

What starts as pure shlock exploitation, gradually opens up into a full-blown arthouse tone poem, as existential pinholes are poked throughout the question, “what is desire and what does it say about us, even if are unable to control it?” This is Jess Franco operating at a pretty high caliber creatively within his cinematic apothecary, opening the door to the sun-dappled, outer zone transcendence his 80’s cinema would nail. Right here though, we have Franco upping the ante of some of his previous work, such as VAMPYROS LESBOS and SHE KILLED IN ECSTASY, into dizzyingly transcendent heights.
